The Wings of the Wyld Six-Week Book Club Plan includes discussion points and printable activity sheets for each week, as well as a poster and bookmarks.

Please let me know if you use it with your book club – I’d love to hear about the students’ responses to the book.

Here’s what my Year 5 Book Club had to say:

‘Idiosyncratic, spellbinding, phenomenal. It made me feel wonderful and excited. My favourite character was Ren because she stepped up to save her sister when no one else would. I would recommend this to all people because it has fantasy, adventure and funny jokes.’
Sofia, age 9

‘Engaging, suspense, twists. I like wyverns because they are rarely used in other books and Falco is a great villain. This book made me feel excited because of the suspense. My favourite character was Rusty because he listens to everything Ren says and sounds so disappointed every time.’
Adam, age 9

‘Amazing, creative, engaging. The book made me feel happy and excited. I loved Kite because she can always talk her way through anything. I think people who like Hary Potter, Skandar etc. would love this book.’
Krisha, age 10

‘Suspense, engaging, adventure. I loved the book because Ren went to save her sister on a wyvern she found in the Wyld. The book made me feel excited. I’d recommend this book to someone who likes dragons and an adventure. When’s Book 2 coming out!?’
Arlo, age 9

‘Suspense, adventure, fictional. I liked the suspense and it made me feel like I was watching Ren and her friends. My favourite character was Rusty because he was very funny.’
Finn, age 10

‘Stargazing, fantasy, jawdropping. My favourite character was Rusty because he was injured by fire and then he went to save someone in a volcano.’
Chloe, age 10

‘Fascinating, suspense, magical. It was excellent – it felt enjoyable. My favourite character was Ren because she is very very coooooool!!!’
Aashvi, age 10

‘Cool, mysterious, exciting. It was mysterious and fun. My favourite character was Rusty because he likes chocolate.’
Nicolas, age 10
